# Tracking alerts

An [open tracking metric](/en/behavioral/metrics/tracking/#open-periods) is monitored like any other. The split between the two configurations is:

* **Count**: defined on the metric, by the tracking scope (`open for more than 2 days`);
* **Alert**: defined on the monitor, by the condition (`Open count > 50`).

A condition over **Open time** alone is sensitive to isolated cases: a single slow entity keeps the measure high and the alert stays open. Combining the scope on the metric with a condition over the count restricts the alert to collective behavior.
