Chart

Each metric has its own chart in the admin panel. The chart offers the following controls:

  • select the time range;
  • choose the granularity (1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day, among others) or leave it on Auto;
  • select which aggregations to query, up to 5 at a time;
  • show or hide each series from the table below the chart, without running the query again;
  • apply additional filters without changing the metric configuration. These filters accept references to lists, expanded into up to 10 series, unlike the metric filters.

Auto selects the most readable interval for the period and indicates which one was applied, for example Auto (1 hour).

Axes

The chart has two vertical axes, one for each unit of reading. Series are grouped by the unit they are read in, and each axis is labelled in that unit. A duration appears as a duration, a count as a number and a percentage on the 0 to 100% scale, always on the right.

Since only two axes exist, a third unit is not drawn. The series stays in the table, with its values, and the chart states which aggregation to remove to display it.

When aggregations of a third unit are selected, the chart drops the oldest unit from the selection. This situation only comes up when opening a saved address or a panel built earlier.

The filters that are part of the metric definition appear next to the chart and are always applied. Changing them requires editing the metric.

Periods in which an alert was open appear highlighted on the corresponding series. From a point on the chart, open the events that compose it in the Explore screen, or the associated alert.

A period earlier than the retention deadline of the chosen granularity returns no data, and the chart states the cause.
